Ostermann Named Offensive Player of the Year, Eight Named All-ECC

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced its 2018 men's soccer all-conference teams and major award winners on Monday, Nov. 5 with eight LIU Post student-athletes earning recognition.
The league's coaches voted graduate student forward
Lukas Ostermann as the conference's Offensive Player of the Year after an outstanding 2018 campaign. Ostermann currently ranks second in the country with 23 goals and 52 points, netting the game-winner during the ECC championship match against Mercy College on Saturday.
Joining Ostermann as first-team honorees are freshman midfielder
Javier Rehberger Martin and freshman defender
Paul Hein. The duo helped captain a Pioneer defense that recorded eight shutouts on the season, including two shutouts during the ECC tournament.
Senior midfielder
Vittorio Argeri led the Green and Gold's second-team recipients. The Italian native led the conference with eight assists this season, while also scoring four goals. Fellow midfielder
Yohance Alexander also earned second-team recognition along with junior defender
Kyle Parish and senior goalkeeper
Oliver Hessner Hansen.
Sophomore midfielder
Tom Stenberg rounded out LIU Post's all-conference members, garnering a spot on the third team.
The Pioneers will continue their season during the NCAA Division II Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 10. LIU Post earned the ECC's automatic bid into the national championship for the fourth-consecutive season after defeating Mercy College, 2-0 during the conference championship match. The Green and Gold will take on the winner of No. 3 seed Mercy College and No. 6 seed Post University, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
