MANSFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Rachel Vellis of the No. 7 LIU Post field hockey team was named Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the organization Tuesday. Vellis also garnered the weekly honor on Tuesday, Sept. 18
The Pioneers posted a 2-0 record last week as they defeated Southern Connecticut State University 7-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 30 and Assumption College 2-1 on Saturday, Nov. 3. Vellis played a key role as she finished with a combined total of nine saves. She had six against the Owls and three against the Greyhounds.
She is currently is fourth in the NE10 in saves with 95 and second in save percentage with a percentage of .798 on the season.
Vellis and the Pioneers face American International College in their final regular season game on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
