USILA Coaches Poll
Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Coming off of a huge victory against local rival Adelphi University, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team made significant leaps in both national polls, jumping to No. 10 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) poll and No. 12 in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine rankings.
The Pioneers took down the No. 4/5 Panthers at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium for the first time since April 5, 2008 when the Green and Gold defeated then No. 8 Adelphi, 15-14 in overtime. LIU Post used an impressive defensive performance during the second half to help take down the Panthers, allowing just one goal during the second half.
Junior goalkeeper
Bryan Ochs was fantastic during the final two quarters, allowing an opening goal just over three minutes into the half before making nine saves to shutout Adelphi over the final 26:46 to help secure the victory. On the day, Ochs made 14 saves, recording a 63.6 save percentage. Ochs was honored by the East Coast Conference (ECC) as the league's Defensive Player of the Week after the performance.
LIU Post returns to action on Saturday, March 3 when it travels to Pace University for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the No. 4/5 Setters at Pace Stadium.
