BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post baseball team suffered another narrow loss to Molloy College, falling 3-2 in the series finale at the LIU Post Baseball Field April 29.

With the win, Molloy secured a top-two seed for the East Coast Conference Championship in two weeks, while the Pioneers' seeding is still to be decided by next week's results.

Sophomore Julien Arcos recorded a quality start for the Pioneers, going 8.2 innings, scattering seven hits and allowing just three runs while striking out three. Junior Brian Kavanagh recorded the final out of the contest for the Pioneers.

At the plate, senior Rob Andreoli finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and junior Jimmy Mendyk added two hits as well.

The Lions scored all three of their runs early, plating one run in the top of the first inning on a two-out single by Sean Hogan. Molloy added two more runs in the third inning on consecutive RBI-singles to take a 3-0 lead.

The Pioneers got one run back in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-1 when Andreoli doubled to the opposite field and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Anthony Vaglica. The Green and Gold stranded runners in scoring position in the fifth and sixth innings, however, before eventually breaking through in the seventh.

Sophomore Zach Fritz led off the seventh with a base hit to center field and junior Joe Piscitelli followed up with a single to right field. Mendyk loaded the bases with a bunt single to load the bases with nobody out. Freshman Jasiah Greene was hit by a pitch in the following at-bat to make it a one-run game with the bases still loaded with nobody out. Molloy's Lucas Burton came on in relief and worked out of the jam with a strikeout and a double-play as all momentum slipped away from the Pioneers and the Lions held on the rest of the way for the 3-2 final.

LIU Post returns to action for a crucial series with St. Thomas Aquinas College on Friday, May 4 on the road at Palisades Credit Union Park at 3:30 p.m.
