WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced LIU Post volleyball junior outside hitter Rachel Londot as the league's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the annual awards dinner June 4.

Londot led four Pioneers honored as Scholar-Athletes during the awards, as baseball's junior outfielder Dave Brehm, women's cross country and track & field senior Talya Williams, and women's soccer's junior goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow earned the honor for their respective sports.

A dual major in criminal justice and forensic science, Londot boasts a 3.97 cumulative grade point average and was named the ECC Player of the Year for volleyball in 2017. The junior had a breakout season for the Pioneers, leading the Green and Gold to a share of the regular season championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. Londot garnered four ECC Player of the Week honors during the season and ranked third in the conference with 390 regular-season kills and a .293 hitting percentage. Londot also ranked in the top-10 in the league in service aces (55), service aces per set (0.47), and digs (355).

Two other ECC Players of the Year garnered Scholar-Athlete acknowledgment, including Eklow, the ECC women's soccer Goalkeeper of the Year and Williams, the ECC women's cross country Runner of the Year. Eklow played every minute in goal for the Pioneers in 2017, making 81 saves and collecting a 0.72 goals-against average. She later earned All-East Region accolades while helping to lead LIU Post to two victories in the NCAA Division II Championship. Along with the athletic accolades, Eklow boats a 3.76 GPA as a mathematics and computer science major.

Williams took home first place in the ECC Championship this fall with a time of 17:44.08, the second-fastest time in program history. The Schenectady native added a fourth-place finish at the regional race to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championship. Williams compiled a 3.79 cumulative GPA as a criminal justice major to earn the distinction.

On the diamond, Brehm had a breakout season as well for the Pioneers, earning first-team All-ECC accolades before being selected as a second-team All-East Region member. The junior led the Pioneers with a .364 average this season, compiling 63 hits with nine doubles and 28 runs batted in. As a business major, Brehm has compiled a 3.52 GPA.
