Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 8 in Initial USILA National Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced its 2019 men's lacrosse Division II preseason poll on Monday, January 28, tabbing LIU Post as the No. 8 team in the country.

The Pioneers garnered 171 total points in the initial rankings for the 2019 season, while Merrimack College takes the No. 1 overall spot with 319 points. The Pioneers are one of three East Coast Conference squads ranked in the preseason poll and seven opponents on the Green and Gold's schedule this year begin the year nationally ranked.

In head coach Eric Wolf's first season at the helm, the Green and Gold recorded a 10-5 overall record, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Division II Championship. The Pioneers suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss in the ECC Championship game to NYIT and are seeking redemption in their final season as a Division II program.

LIU Post opens the season on Saturday, Feb. 16 against American International College as part of a four-game homestand to begin the year. Faceoff with the Yellow Jackets is slated for 2:30 p.m.
