Men's Lacrosse Jumps to No. 5/6 in Week Five National Rankings

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – After defeating No. 1/1 Merrimack College on Saturday, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team made a big jump in the national polls, moving to No. 5/6 in both week five rankings as announced on Monday, March 11.

LIU Post enters the week ranked No. 5 by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and No. 6 in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine poll.

The Pioneers controlled much of the game before the Warriors came from behind to take a late lead. Sophomore William Snelders found the back of the net during the final minute to force overtime and later ripped home a shot from the right wing to give LIU Post the victory. Senior Connor Farrell had an outstanding game in the faceoff circle, finishing with an NCAA Division II record 34 faceoff wins and 30 ground balls.

The Pioneers open East Coast Conference play on Wednesday, March 13 at Saint Thomas Aquinas College at 4:00 p.m.
