EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The New York Giants have signed LIU Post defensive back
Jake Carlock as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 National Football League draft.
Carlock, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year, caps off his outstanding final season at LIU Post with an opportunity to continue his football career at the highest level. During the 2018 season, Carlock led LIU Post 67 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and four sacks. As a leader in the secondary, he also posted two interceptions, a team-best 11 pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and one blocked punt.
His most impressive performance of the season came during the NE10 championship game against the University of New Haven where he compiled seven tackles, one fumble recovery, and one interception. His performance on the field helped him earn Division II Conference Commissioners Association and Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Super Region I accolades and was named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award given to the top small school defensive player in NCAA Divisions II and III and NAIA.
The Giants will begin rookie minicamp on May 5 with mandatory minicamp commencing on June 4. New York will play four preseason games this fall, beginning on August 8 in the annual Meadowlands showdown with the New York Jets.
