NEWARK, Del. – The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association tabbed softball's senior catcher
Julia Seader as the East Region Player of the Year, while also naming four others to the All-East Region squad on Wednesday, May 8.
Senior
Hannah Olshevski joined Seader on the first team, while juniors
Katie Humhej and
Megan Sneeden and sophomore
Hanna Finkelstein garnered second-team recognition.
Seader helped lead LIU Post to a 46-10 record this season and an East Coast Conference regular season championship. She was named the ECC Player of the Year for the second time and earned her fourth all-conference recognition last week. Despite finishing second in batting average, Seader led the ECC in home runs (18) and runs batted in (56). Earlier this season she set the LIU Post program record for career doubles and is currently tied for the top spot in career hits. She is also a finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA National Player of the Year award.
Olshevski earns first team all-region accolades for the second time in her career after compiling a 22-5 record in 29 appearances. Olshevski is having her best season of her career, notching career highs in wins while also compiling a 1.84 earned run average and a .262 opponent batting average. Humhej joins Olshevski as an all-region honoree, earning her second recognition of her career. Humhej is also having a career-best season, notching a 2.07 ERA with a 24-5 record and five shutouts. During her last outing she reached the 100-strikeout plateau for the year and is holding opponents to a .243 average.
Sneeden and Finkelstein both earn their first career all-region accolade this season. Sneeden's breakout year features a .336 batting average with 49 hits, five doubles, four home runs and 34 RBIs. Finkelstein is also having a fantastic season at the plate, hitting .365 with 61 hits, 12 doubles, nine home runs and 46 RBIs. since moving into the cleanup position 16 games ago, Finkelstein is hitting a team-best .458 with 22 hits, five doubles, three home runs, and 17 RBIs. Her .750 slugging percentage and .536 on-base percentage during the stretch are also team-bests.
