WEST BABYLON, N.Y. –The LIU Post baseball team garnered three major awards and had eight players earn all-conference honors, as announced by the East Coast Conference (ECC) Thursday afternoon.
 
Freshman Joshua Loeschorn was named both Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the year while head coach Mike Gaffney was honored as Coach of the Year.
 
Along with the three major awards, six Pioneers were named to the first-team and two to the second-team.
 
Joining Loeschorn on the first-team was senior duo Anthony Vaglica and Noah Lorenzo, who both earned all-conference honors for the third time in their careers. Seniors James Varela and Michael Manzione earned all-conference honors for the second time in their careers while junior Zach Fritz garnered his first postseason recognition.
 
Garnering second-team honors was senior Dave Brehm, who earned all-conference honors for the second time and sophomore Christopher Wasson.
 
Loeschorn has been a dominant force on the mound for LIU Post, being named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, April 9 along with ECC Pitcher of the week twice and Rookie of the Week once.
 
His .72 WHIP currently leads the nation and his 1.49 ERA is sixth nationally and best in the ECC. His 5.20 hits allowed per nine innings rank fifth nationally and his 5.80 strikeout-to-walk ratio is 23rd . Along with his conference-best nine wins and two shutouts, he also has two saves and no losses in 14 appearances. Loeschorn has tallied 58 strikeouts on the season.

Under Gaffney's tutelage this season LIU Post has rewritten the record books. With 33 wins, LIU Post broke the previous program season wins record of 32 and also set a new record for wins in the ECC with 24, topping the previous record of 22 set by Molloy College in 2011 and the Pioneers in 2010.
 
LIU Post's .857 winning percentage in ECC play topped the previous mark of .800 set by Saint Thomas Aquinas College in 2017.
 
Gaffney has now helped mentor six player of the year award-winners along with 31 all-conference selections in his five season at the helm of LIU Post.
 
The top-seeded Pioneers will open ECC Championship play this at Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Stadium at 3:00 p.m. against fourth-seeded Queens College.
