Mike Eckerle - 2014 - LIU Post

2014: Named to the ECC All-Conference Second Team ... made eight starting appearances for the Pioneers and posted an ECC top five and team-leading, 6-2 record ... in 45 innings pitched he compiled 52 strikouts and allowed only 36 hits with 10 earned runs, ranking him fifth in the conference and third on the squad with a 1.99 ERA ...  struck out 12 and allowed only five hits in his complete-game, 2-0 shut-out over Mercy (Apr. 1) ... tallied 11 strikeouts and gave up 5 hits in his 5 inning appearance against Nyack (Mar 15). 

2013: Named to ECC All-Conference Second Team ... made 10 appearances with 8 starts ... finished 3-3 with a 2.37 ERA ... struck out 77 batters in 56.1 innings while walking 23 ... held opponents to a .218 batting average ... tossed 8.1 shutout innings with 13 strikeouts to earn the win agains Nyack (3/12) ... had 13 strikeouts in 7 innings in a 7-0 win over Mercy (4/6).

2012: Appeared in seven games with four starts … finished 2-0 with a 3.04 ERA … allowed 14 hits over 23.2 innings … gave up eight earned runs and struck out 32 batters … held opponents to a .177 batting average … had his best outing of the season at Queens College (March 24) … tossed 5.2 innings, gave up two earned runs, two hits and struck out 10.

2011: Appeared in eight games, making two starts … posted a 2-0 record … pitched 18.0 innings, allowing six earned runs on 18 hits … struck out 25 batters and walked 14 …  got the start against Concordia and pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits to earn the victory while striking out five (April 16) … pitched four innings in relief at Molloy and struck out a career-high seven batters (April 26) … went five innings in a start against Mercy allowing only one run on five hits while striking out five (May 9).

Prior to LIU Post: Played three seasons of varsity baseball for Andy Dibernardo … earned all-county and all-conference honors during his career for the Bulldogs … set a school record with 18 strikeouts in a game … also played three years of basketball, earning all-county honors twice.

Personal: Son of Scott and Christine … has a younger brother, Bryan … favorite athlete is Randy Johnson ... admires his grandfather … majoring in criminal justice.
