Men's Basketball Ranked 23rd in DII Bulletin Preseason Poll
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2011) – Led by preseason All-American guard
Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.) the C.W. Post men's basketball team has been ranked 23rd in the Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25.
Bonneau was named as one of two East Region players selected as DIIB Super 16 All-Americans.
The Pioneers finished last season – their first under head coach Chris Casey – with a 21-10 record, complete with an East Coast Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA East Regional. It was the third regional appearance in the past four seasons for the Pioneers.
Bonneau, also tabbed as a preseason honorable mention All-American by
Sporting News, led the Pioneers as well as the ECC in scoring with 18.9 points per game. He also led in three-pointers with 79 and was second in free throw percentage, shooting .872 (102-117), and led the Pioneers in scoring 18 times. The electric guard scored 20+ points on 12 occasions, notching a career-high 39 points on 12-of-21 shooting against Queens, making 10-of-10 free throws in the effort.
C.W. Post kicks off 2011-12 with two exhibition contests against St. John's on Oct. 25 and UConn on November 6. The Pioneer open their regular season with a trip to Albany, N.Y. for the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournameny from November 11-12. ECC play opens for C.W. Post as it takes on NYIT on December 7.
