CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 14, 2011)- The East Coast Conference announced its first weekly awards of the 2011-12 basketball season on Monday afternoon, and junior guard Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) was named the Player of the Week.

Carberyy also averaged 8.0 boards per game and dished out four assists and blocked two shots to round out the stat sheet. In a 104-99 win over Saint Anselm, he led five Pioneers who hit double digits with 22 points on 8-12 shooting, including 2-2 from three-point range and 4-5 from the line. The Pioneers opened up 2011-12 with two wins over NE-10 opponents in the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament. They first took on Saint Anselm, who was selected to finish third in the NE-10 preseason poll. C.W. Post jumped out to an early lead in the game and held a double-digit lead throughout much of the second half, but watched the Hawks mount a comeback in the waning minutes to threaten the Pioneer lead. However, 3-4 shooting from the free throw line sealed the deal as the Pioneers hung on for a 104-99 win.  Against Saint Rose, an NCAA Tournament participant last season, C.W. Post picked up a 97-83 victory. The Pioneers took over the game late in the first half and pushed the lead to as many as 22 points over the Golden Knights.

C.W. Post will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, as the team travels to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference up. Tip-off is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
