Men's Basketball Takes Down Queens, 79-63
				
				
						
				
		
				Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 3, 2011) – Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) led a trio of Pioneers in double figures as C.W. Post men's basketball topped Queens in a non-conference decision on Saturday afternoon, 79-63.
The Pioneers improve to 6-1 on the season, as Queens slips to 2-3 overall.
C.W. Post jumped out to an early lead in the game, courtesy of a 15-2 run to start the game, but Queens engineered an offensive outpouring of its own to tie the game at 15-15 with 7:45 remaining in the first half.  But C.W. Post stretched out its lead heading into halftime and took a 37-21 advantage into the break.
The hosts kept a double-digit advantage as the second half got underway, leading by as many as 19 point at 14:40 (50-31), but Queens slowly chipped away, cutting the lead all the way down to just four point, 58-54, with 7:29 left in the game.  But The Pioneers took advantage at the free throw line, as freshman 
Charles MCann (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) hit both shots on two consecutive possessions, than converted a three-point play to put C.W. Post up 68-54.  The rest of the contest would be all Pioneers as the hosts stretched the lead out to 15+ points as they cruised to the victory.
Carberry's 20 points came on 5-14 shooting from the floor and a 9-11 performance from the line, as he also chipped in with seven boards, three assists and a steal.  McCann registered his first collegiate double-double with a 14-point, 10-rebound effort.  
Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.) added 14 points to round out the scoring for the hosts, dishing out five assists and grabbing two steals.
C.W. Post shot 41.4% from the floor (24-58), and 40% from deep (6-15).  They hit 25-32 from the charity stripe, more than tripling the free throw attempts for the Knights, who were 7-9 from the line.  The Pioneers held a sizeable 47-32 advantage on the glass. 
Head coach Chris Casey and the Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday as they travel to neighboring NYIT for their East Coast Conference opener, starting at 6:30 p.m.
