Carberry Named ECC Player of the Year; Three Pioneers Garner All-Conference 3/6/2013 12:51:00 PM CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 6, 2013) – For the third straight year, the men's basketball coaches in the East Coast Conference have selected a Pioneer as the ECC Player of the Year. Senior guard Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) has been named the 2012-13 ECC Player of the Year after being named Player of the Week twice during the season. Carberry has been a prolific scorer this season, leading the ECC with 18.8 points per game. He put up double digits in every game this season, topping 20 points 14 times. The senior is also ranked 39th in Division II in scoring and ranks in the top five in the ECC in field goals made, three pointers made and three point percentage. In addition to the Player of the Year honors, Carberry was also named to the ECC All-Conference First Team. Joining Carberry is junior Vaugh Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.). Allen is averaging 15.5 points per game this season and has added 8.7 rebounds per game. Freshman guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named to the ECC All-Rookie Team after averaging 5.0 points per game and adding 3.3 assists per game.
