NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (Oct. 11, 2014) - Led by a four-goal offensive effort, the No. 6 LIU Post field hockey team secured its second Northeast-10 Conference victory and sixth overall of 2014 with a 4-2 win at No. 10 Merrimack on Saturday in North Andover.

The Pioneers (6-1, 2-0 NE-10) took the early lead just over two minutes into the contest. On a penalty corner, junior forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) gave a pass to sophomore Abi Sawyer (Wakefield, West Yorkshire) at the top of the arc. Sawyer then found graduate defender Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa), who converted the green and gold's 10th penalty corner goal of the season.

The game remained at a one-tally LIU Post advantage until the 16th minute. Freshman forward Kaycee Zelkovsky (Lambertville, N.J.) snuck a Stephanie Ruhle (Wanaque, N.J.) assist under Warriors' (5-5, 1-3 NE-10) goalkeeper Madison Davis to put the Pioneers up by two scores. That cushion would stand through the remainder of the first half.

Five minutes into the latter period, Merrimack cut the green and gold's lead in half, but LIU Post answered shortly thereafter with an unassisted Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados W.I.) goal. To cap off the Pioneer offensive strike, freshman Grace Ilias (Oakville, Ontario) scored on an unassisted effort in the 58th minute.

The LIU Post offense combined for 18 total shots, while the green and gold's back line blocked two Merrimack attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) made seven saves in her fifth win between the pipes.

Head Coach Raenee Savin and the Pioneers are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 14), when they welcome in NE-10 opponent Southern Connecticut State University to Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium at 4 p.m.
