BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2014) - Highlighted by a Dani Crouse (Westville, South Africa) hat trick, the No. 6 LIU Post field hockey team won its Northeast-10 Conference opener Sunday at Bethpage Stadium. The Pioneers blanked Franklin Pierce, 8-0. 

Crouse, a defensive anchor for the green and gold, boasted her offensive capabilities with three shots that found the back of the cage. Her first tally came off a Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) penalty corner ball at 12:34. Crouse's next point would be off the stick of sophomore midfielder Steph Mocerino (Andover, N.J.) at 32:50, and the graduate defender's last offensive contribution crossed the goal line at 61:28, once again off the stick of Margiotta. Crouse also added an assist to her efforts. 

Margiotta, who owns the top goals per game average in all of Division II (2.75), pitched in two markers to her credit against the Ravens (2-5, 0-2 NE-10). Scored just over two minutes apart from each other, Margiotta's unassisted attempts whizzed by Franklin Pierce goalkeeper Amy Zahensky at the 38:54 and 41:11 mark, respectively. The Sewell native dished off two assists in the victory as well.

Plus, senior forward Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados W.I.) notched multiple tallies for the green and gold. She secured the first Pioneer (5-1, 1-0 NE-10) point against the Ravens five minutes into the game off of a Crouse assist. Her second tally found the back of the cage just two-plus minutes into the second half at 37:57. 

Head Coach Raenee Savin and her LIU Post squad are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 11), when they face NE-10 opponent Merrimack in North Andover, Mass. at 11 a.m.
