BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2014) - On Sunday, the LIU Post women's soccer team got a pair of goals from senior Lauren Bellone (West Islip, N.Y.) in a 2-0 win over East Coast Conference foe Queens at Pioneer Soccer Park in Brookville.

The Pioneers (8-1-0, 4-0-0 ECC) have now won eight straight matches, including four consecutive shutouts.

LIU Post and Queens (2-5-2, 0-3-1 ECC) battled to a scoreless first half. Yet, the green and gold dominated the time of possession, and maintained a 6-1 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half, it was more of the same for LIU Post. This time, however, the Pioneers were able to break through for two goals, both off the foot of Bellone.

In the 51st minute, Bellone got a feed from sophomore Julia Backman (Morsil, Sweden). She then tucked a shot from the far side and subsequently put it home just inside the near post.

Later, in the 73rd minute, Bellone ripped a shot from the far side that found the mesh for the 2-0 advantage.

Sophomore keeper Hreffie Agnarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) faced only one shot in 90 minutes of play. Agnarsdottir now has six clean sheets in nine games.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to action on Thursday (Oct. 9), when they host Wilmington in a non-conference tilt at Pioneer Soccer Park. The opening kick is slated for 3:30 p.m.
