ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Sept. 23, 2014) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post women's soccer team continued to roll, beating East Coast Conference rival Molloy, 2-0, at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre.

The Pioneers (5-1, 2-0 ECC) were led by the duo of sophmore Julia Backman (Morsil, Sweden) and junior Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway). The pair each scored a goal for the second time in as many games. Vistnes now has five markers over her last three contests.

Just 26 seconds before halftime, LIU Post was awarded a penalty kick after after Molloy (0-5-1, 0-2 ECC) committed a foul in the box. The Pioneers were threatening, as they connected on a few touch passes before the Lions took down freshman Klara Berggren (Stockholm, Sweden). Backman stepped up and drove the ball past the Molloy keeper, Nicole DellaPorta. The sophomore is now 2-for-2 in PK attempts.

At the break, the green and gold held a 7-5 shot advantage and a 3-0 corner kick edge. Sophomore keeper Hreffie Agnarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) made her only save in the first 45 minutes.

Later, in the second half, the Pioneers were awarded a free kick from about 20 yards out. Vistnes put her left foot into it and bent the shot in to the lower left corner of the goal for the 2-0 advantage.

Agnarsdottir posted her third clean sheet of the season, making one save in the process. DellaPorta stopped five shots for the Lions.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and his LIU Post squad return to action on Saturday (Sept. 27), when they take on ECC rival NYIT at noon in Old Westbury, N.Y.
