BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2015) - Behind a pair of goals from freshman forward
Andrea Huntzinger (Stockholm, Sweden), the LIU Post women's soccer team defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 2-1, in non-conference action Monday at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The Pioneers (8-2-2), playing the first game of a six-match homestand, got out to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute, when senior forward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) chipped a pass into space that Huntzinger collected and shot into the mesh.
In the 26th minute, the Penmen (8-3-1) responded with a goal of their own to make it 1-1.
LIU Post outshot Southern New Hampshire, 5-3, in the game's first 45 minutes.
The contest looked destined for overtime until the 83rd minute. Vistnes again sent a pass to Huntzinger and the freshman finished, sending a low shot just under the right arm of the Penmen keeper.
With the two assists, Vistnes tied the LIU Post women's soccer career points record with 159.
In net, junior keeper
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) made three saves for her fifth win of the season.
