Later in the first half, the Pioneers led 9-7, until Kidd staged another drive that went for six. This time, Kidd again found Hubbard on third down, connecting on a 16-yard touchdown pass that made it a two-possession game (16-7) at the break.

On their first series of the latter half, the Pioneers' ground attack charged into plus-territory, as the trio of White, Pierre and Kidd pounded their way inside the Setters' five-yard line. Then, Kidd hit red-shirt sophomore wide receiver
James Higgins (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) on a short one-yard pass for the touchdown.
At the conclusion of the quarter, an 11-play, 78-yard drive by the green and gold was capped by a Pierre four-yard plunge into the end zone.
