BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2015) - The LIU Post women's soccer team handed Roberts Wesleyan College its first East Coast Conference loss on Friday, as the Pioneers bested the Redhawks, 2-1, in double overtime at Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Pioneers (11-2-2, 3-1-2 ECC) got a pair of goals from the program's leading scorer, senior forward Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway), as the green and gold extended their winning streak to four games.

In the first half, Vistnes carried the ball into the box, showcasing some fancy footwork to get around a few defenders before blasting a shot that bounced off the keeper's hands and found the mesh just inside the right post. That would be all the scoring for the first 45 minutes, but the teams combined for 12 shots and six saves in the opening half.

With time winding down in the second half, the Pioneers were called for a handball inside the box, setting up a penalty kick for Roberts Wesleyan. Bella Mitrevski converted the PK, forcing overtime.

In the first overtime session, the Redhawks managed two shots, neither of which were on target.

Then, in the second overtime, junior midfielder Katie Kingston (Wantagh, N.Y.) sent a cross into the box from the far sideline that Vistnes connected with for the game-winning goal.

In net, junior keeper Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) made five saves in 104:43 of action. LIU Post outshot Roberts Wesleyan in the match, 15-12. Both teams managed six shots on goal.

Head Coach Mark Dawson and the Pioneers return to action on Sunday (Oct. 25), when they host Daemen College in an ECC tilt at Pioneer Soccer Park. Prior to kickoff, the team will be honoring its graduating seniors for their contributions to the program. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
