BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2015) - The LIU Post women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Dowling College Tuesday in East Coast Conference play at Golden Lions Field.
The Pioneers (7-2-2, 1-1-2 ECC) and Golden Lions (4-4-1, 2-0-1 ECC) were scoreless in the first 45 minutes, despite there being 10 combined shots in the opening half.
It wasn't until the 84th minute that the game saw its first goal. Off a corner kick, LIU Post sophomore midfielder
Klara Berggren (Stockholm, Sweden) collected a loose ball in front of the net and scored to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
Then, in the 86th minute, Dowling tied the game, forcing overtime.
The Golden Lions were able to get two shots off in the first extra session, neither of which were on goal.
In the second overtime period, the Pioneers had their scoring chance in the 103rd minute, when senior foward
Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) sent a shot on net that was saved.
In the 108th minute, junior keeper
Felicia Orderud (Gothenburg, Sweden) made a save to keep the game even at 1-all. Less than a minute later, a Dowling header went high and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Pioneers outshot the Golden Lions, 16-15, including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Orderud made four saves in 110 minutes of action.

Mark Dawson and his LIU Post squad return to the pitch on Monday (Oct. 12), when they host Southern New Hampshire University in a non-conference tilt at Pioneer Soccer Park in Brookville. The opening kick is slated for 1 p.m.
