BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Nov. 14, 2015) - On Saturday afternoon, the 12th-ranked and second-seeded LIU Post men's soccer team defeated sixth-seeded Wilmington University, 6-0, in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Division II Championship at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The win advances the Pioneers (15-2-2) to the third round of the tournament, where they will face No. 3 and top-seeded Southern New Hampshire University at a time and site yet to be determined.
In the opening session, the green and gold netted a pair of goals just six minutes apart, and eventually brought a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the 23rd minute, junior back
Joey Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) got the scoring started, when he headed home a
Matias Ruiz (Southampton, N.Y.) corner kick.
Then, in the 29th minute, the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick and graduate midfielder
Tom Bowen (Aberdovey, Wales, U.K.) converted for the two-goal advantage.
During the latter half, LIU Post had four different players find the back of the net to put the match away for good.

Oliver Hollingsaeter (Aslund, Norway), sophomore midfielder
Harry Pearse (Berkshire, London, England) and Ruiz accounted for the goals.
LIU Post outshot Wilmington (15-6) in the contest, 23-5. Junior keeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) went untested for his 13th win and fifth clean sheet of the year.
