BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (Nov. 24, 2015) - The LIU Post men's basketball team shot a superb 50.0 percent from the field Tuesday night, en route to a 95-81 victory over Bloomfield College in non-conference action at Bloomfield Gymnasium.

Five different players scored in double figures for the Pioneers (4-1). Junior forward Greg Dotson (Abington, Pa.) scored 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Senior forward Michael Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.) poured in 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. Junior guard Jared Hall (South Orange, N.J.) registered 14 points and four boards. Senior guard Dillon Burns (Staten Island, N.Y.) amassed 13 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals. Sophomore forward Hunter Powell (Tustin, Mich.) added 10 points and four boards.

Leading 12-8 with 15-plus minutes remaining in the first half, LIU Post went on a 10-1 run in a span of 3:26 to widen its advantage to 22-9 at the 12:03 mark. Hall knocked down a three-pointer to cap off the burst. Phillip and junior forward Barrington Alston (Wilmington, Del.) each contributed a basket.

The Pioneers later built as much as a 14-point cushion (36-22) in the opening stanza, and eventually brought a 49-40 edge into halftime.

Early in the second half, the green and gold held a two-possession lead (54-48), until a 16-6 spurt by the visitors widened the gap to 70-54 with 13:49 to go. Burns and Dotson netted back-to-back trifectas to spark the run. Senior guard Akosa Maduegbunam (Hyde Park, Mass.) rounded it out with a lay-up on the fast break.

That proved to be all LIU Post needed to secure its second-straight victory. In addition to making half their shots from the floor, the Pioneers buried 7-of-18 (38.9 percent) attempts from beyond the arc.

Head Coach Erik Smiles and his LIU Post squad are back at it on Monday (Nov. 30), when they head to New Haven, Conn. to square off with No. 19 Southern Connecticut State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
