MANSFIELD, Mass. (Feb. 5, 2015) - Five members of the LIU Post football team were chosen to the Northeast-10 Fall 2014 Academic All-Conference list on Thursday. Additionally, red-shirt senior quarterback Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho) received the league's Sport Excellence Award for football after having a season worthy of the NE-10 Most Valuable Player accolade.

Laurino, a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist for the 2014 campaign, led the Pioneers to their first conference championship and NCAA Tournament berth in nearly a decade. The signal-caller was named NE-10 Player of the Week five times over the course of the season, and received ECAC All-Star and Daktronics All-Super Region praise. He accounted for 48 touchdowns in his final year in Brookville, and became the green and gold's all-time leader in passing yards, completions and total offense. Furthermore, Laurino is the only member of the LIU Post football program to amass more than 10,000 yards of total offense in a career. In the classroom, the History Education major achieved a 3.71 grade-point average for the fall semester.

The other four Pioneers named to the NE-10 Academic All-Conference ledger included CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American nose guard Dan Belfiore (Glen Cove, N.Y.), junior tight end and All-NE-10 first-team honoree Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.), ECAC All-Star and Football Gazette All-Super Region One Team offensive guard Chris Rossi (Hillsborough, N.J.), and All-NE-10 second-team running back Mike Williams (Westbury, N.Y.).
