BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Apr. 19, 2015) - On Sunday, the LIU Post baseball team broke out for 15 hits as the Pioneers beat East Coast Conference rival Bridgeport, 11-4, at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport.
The Pioneers (15-12, 12-8 ECC) gave starter
Dan Jagiello (West Islip, N.Y.) some early run support, after sophomore outfielder
Kenny Daley (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) drove home graduate outfielder
Vinny Iacono (Nesconset, N.Y.), who tripled an at-bat earlier.
Bridgeport (17-20, 12-8 ECC) would answer with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Then, in the second, a two-out RBI single from junior outfielder
John Bellock (Glen Cove, N.Y.) made it 2-1 LIU Post, but again, the Purple Knights had an answer.
This time, the hosts put up three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.
Jagiello settled down after that, throwing up four-straight scoreless innings to keep the Pioneers in it.
In the seventh, it was the offense's turn to respond.
With the bases loaded and two outs, Daley singled, scoring senior shortstop
Rick Alessi (St. James, N.Y.) and junior second baseman
Matt Bowers (Staten Island, N.Y.) with the tying runs. Then, red-shirt senior
Anthony Brunetti (Bayville, N.Y.) reached on a error that allowed Bellock and Daley to score, making it 6-4 LIU Post.
The following inning, the Pioneers sent 10 batters to the plate, collected six hits and scored five runs, taking a commanding 11-4 lead.
Jagiello came out and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth, ending his afternoon. Junior

In all, Jagiello threw 8.0 innings, allowed nine hits, four earned runs, walked two and struck out eight to earn his fourth win.
Daley went 2-for-5 with five RBIs. Iacono was 3-for-6 with two runs and an RBI. Red-shirt senior third baseman
