BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Apr. 26, 2015) - The LIU Post softball team dropped two contests to East Coast Conference competitor Queens College on Saturday. Game One saw a 2-0 Knights victory, while the latter of the double header favored Queens 4-1. The Pioneers finish the regular season at 28-13-1, with a 22-6-0 conference mark, clinching the second slot in the ECC Championship Tournament.
The commencing contest proved to be a pitcher's duel, as the only scoring play was a Queens (32-14) two-run homer to right. The green and gold collected five hits through seven frames, but could not eclipse the Knight lead. Senior hurler
Megan Salcido (Brawley, Calif.) fanned four and walked just one through her seven-inning showing.
LIU Post was on the board first in Game Two, as an
Aly Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) sacrifice fly in the first helped senior right fielder
Catherine Havens (Eastport, N.Y.) cross the plate. The green and gold one-run advantage would stand pat until the Knights connected offensively in the sixth with three RBI singles to tack on three scores to their efforts, while a Queens RBI single in the seventh secured the 4-1 victory.
Junior
Isabella Corrao (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and senior Salcido combined for seven frames. The pair whiffed two and walked just one.
