MANSFIELD, Mass. (Jun. 24, 2015) - The Northeast-10 Conference announced its Spring 2015 Commissioner's Honor Roll Wednesday, and LIU Post had a combined 48 of its football and field hockey student-athletes named to the list.
The NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes the conference's student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. In order to be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded a minimum 3.0 grade-point average in the specified semester.
Seven Pioneers had a flawless 4.0 grade-point average in the spring, all of whom came from the gridiron. They were red-shirt seniors
Dan Belfiore (Glen Cove, N.Y.),
Herb Flores (East Meadow, N.Y.),
Steven Laurino (Boise, Idaho),
Michael Lupola (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Chris McGrane (Lynbrook, N.Y.), junior
Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and red-shirt sophomore
Mike Williams (Westbury, N.Y.).
The LIU Post football team, mentored by Head Coach
Bryan Collins (Sayville, N.Y.), also had 12 players sport a GPA between a 3.5 and a 3.99, and 17 student-athletes carry a grade-point average between a 3.0 and a 3.49.
Meanwhile, Head Coach
Raenee Savin (Nesconset, N.Y.) and the LIU Post field hockey team had nearly 75 percent of their student-athletes represented on the ledger. Four Pioneers boasted a GPA between a 3.5 and a 3.99, and eight student-athletes had a grade-point average between a 3.0 and a 3.49.
