BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2016) - On Saturday, the No. 14 LIU Post football team defeated Northeast-10 Conference arch-rival American International College, 22-7, at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers (8-0, 7-0 NE-10) limited the Yellow Jackets (3-5, 3-4 NE-10) to only 165 yards of total offense in the win. They also forced seven AIC punts and a pair of turnovers.

Up 3-0 at the break, LIU Post got a jolt on special teams to start the second half. Red-shirt junior wide receiver Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, N.J.) returned the opening kickoff 61 yards to the visitors' 30-yard line.

From there, the Pioneers signaled for seven consecutive running plays, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run from red-shirt sophomore running back Malik Pierre (Holbrook, N.Y.) to widen the gap to 9-0.

Early in the fourth quarter, Pierre found the end zone again. This time, he scored on a two-yard handoff, which extended the green and gold's lead to 15-0.

LIU Post eventually built as much as a 22-0 advantage, after senior running back David White (Bronx, N.Y.) crossed the plane from three yards out at the eight-minute mark.

The Pioneers' ground game amassed 294 net yards in the effort. White had a game-high 98 yards rushing, while Pierre scampered for 73 yards.

Freshman defensive back Joshua Flowers (Mount Laurel, N.J.) led the green and gold on defense with eight tackles (seven solo, one assist) and two pass break-ups. Senior linebacker Nate Feliz (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore linebacker Connor Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) each had seven tackles. Farrell also added a fumble recovery. Red-shirt junior defensive lineman Anthony DeNunzio (Seaford, N.Y.) recorded six tackles (three solo, three assist) and a pair of sacks.

Head Coach Bryan Collins and his LIU Post squad return to the gridiron next Saturday (Oct. 29), when they host NE-10 foe Pace University in their 2016 regular-season home finale at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
