WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Dec. 14, 2016) - The Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association released its 2016 All-America Football Team on Wednesday, and LIU Post red-shirt junior defensive back
Jared Chester (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) was honored as a second-team selection.
For Chester, it is his first All-America nod in his collegiate career. He is the first defensive player for the Pioneers to be named an All-American since
Lou Scala and
Billy O'Connor in 2011.
Additionally, Chester was recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, while garnering All-NE-10, D2CCA All-Super Region I and ECAC All-Star first-team accolades.
Chester led the green and gold this season and ranked third amongst the league's defensive backs with 78 tackles (42 solo, 36 assist). He also paced the NE-10 in interceptions with seven.
