Football Ranked 11th in Final AFCA Division II Poll of 2016

WACO, Texas (Dec. 19, 2016) - The final edition of the 2016 American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll was released Monday, and LIU Post was slotted 11th in the tally.

The Pioneers, who set a single-season record for wins (12) this season, cracked the Top-25 on Oct. 3 at No. 21, and continued a steady rise to a program-best-tying No. 10 ranking on Oct. 31.

The green and gold enjoyed one of their most successful campaigns in team history, after completing their first undefeated regular season since 2002 and winning the Northeast-10 Conference title in the process.

Senior quarterback Jeff Kidd (Salem, Ore.) was named the NE-10 Most Valuable Player, while red-shirt junior defensive back Jared Chester (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) earned NE-10 and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Northwest Missouri State, which captured its second-straight NCAA Division II National Championship, retained the No. 1 ranking. The Bearcats received 750 points and all 30 first-place votes, en route to topping the poll.
