ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 12, 2016) - On Saturday, the No. 10/9 LIU Post men's lacrosse team earned its third-straight victory, defeating 13th-ranked Molloy College, 9-7, in an East Coast Conference match-up at John A. Darcy Field.
Leading 2-1 midway through the second quarter, the Pioneers (4-2, 2-0 ECC) tallied four of the period's final five goals to carry a 6-2 cushion into the break. Four different players found the back of the cage for the green and gold in that stretch, including senior attackman/midfielder
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.), who had a game-high five points (3 G, 2 A).
In the third quarter, Slane and sophomore midfielder
Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.) scored only 48 seconds apart, widening the gap to 8-2 at the conclusion of 45 minutes of play.
The Lions (5-1, 1-1 ECC) came on strong in the fourth quarter, trimming the deficit to 9-7 with 1:35 remaining in regulation.
Molloy looked for more in the final minute-plus, but was limited to just one shot on net, which was stopped by junior goalie

Liantonio made seven saves in the victory. His counterpart, Ryan Toomey (Hicksville, N.Y.), turned aside 13 shots for the Lions.

Thomas Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) had an assist.
For the game, LIU Post held a 34-30 edge in shots and a 22-13 advantage in ground balls. The Pioneers were also 13-of-17 (76.5 percent) on clears and 2-of-3 (66.7 percent) with the man-up.
