ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Mar. 5, 2016) - The No. 9/9 LIU Post men's lacrosse team exploded for six unanswered goals in the third quarter on Saturday, en route to a 15-6 win versus Roberts Wesleyan College in an East Coast Conference clash at the RWC Lacrosse Field.

Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) and senior midfielder
Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) each added a goal and an assist.
LIU Post (2-2, 1-1 ECC), which led by a 7-4 margin at the half, owned a 13-4 advantage after three quarters of play. The Pioneers outshot the Redhawks (2-4, 0-1 ECC), 11-4, in the third 15-minute session.
The green and gold eventually built as much as an 11-goal cushion (15-4), as Bellando struck for back-to-back goals to open up the final stanza.
Early in the second quarter, Roberts had cut the deficit to 4-3 on a Dom Cianfarano (Oswego, N.Y.) man-up goal at the 11:32 mark. However, LIU Post responded with three unanswered goals in a four-minute span, capped by a
Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) shorthanded tally, to widen the gap to a four-goal margin.
In addition to Bellando's six-goal day, Slane had four goals and two assists for a six-point output. Beccaris earned four points (2 G, 2 A) and one caused turnover. Berardis chipped in three points (1 G, 2 A).

Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) picked up his first win as a Pioneer, making six saves.
In the faceoff department, junior midfielder
Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) won 10-of-18 draws (55.5 percent) and scooped up seven ground balls in the process.
For the contest, LIU Post, which was a perfect 15-of-15 on clears, outshot Roberts Wesleyan by a 42-27 count. It also won the ground ball battle, 32-27, and converted on 1-of-3 extra-man opportunities.
