LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Mar. 8, 2016) - A 10-goal first quarter was all it took Tuesday for the No. 10/9 LIU Post men's lacrosse team to beat Georgian Court University, 16-3, in Lakewood.

Senior attackman/midfielder Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied all seven of his points (3 G, 4 A) in the outburst. Senior attackman Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) notched two goals and two assists, while fellow senior attackman Matty Beccaris (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored three goals and added an assist.

Graduate midfielder Jeremy Morgan (Ridge, N.Y.) and freshman attackman/midfielder Thomas Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) found the back of the cage in the first quarter for the Pioneers (3-2), as well.

LIU Post, which now boasts a three-game winning streak, eventually built as much as a 15-0 lead in the third quarter, off an unassisted tally by sophomore midfielder Dylan Harned (Selden, N.Y.).

Bellando finished the contest with six points (4 G, 2 A). Beccaris registered five points (3 G, 2 A). Harned and freshman midfielder John Langford (Redondo Beach, Calif.) both had a goal and an assist.

Junior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) was stellar on faceoffs, winning 17-of-18 (94.4 percent) draws and scooping up 12 ground balls. Between the pipes, junior goalie Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) made two saves in 30 minutes of work.

The Pioneers won the shot (42-12) and ground ball (35-15) battles, in addition to securing 19-of-22 (86.3 percent) faceoff victories. LIU Post was also a perfect 29-of-29 on clears and 1-of-2 on extra-man opportunities.

Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Mar. 12), when they return to East Coast Conference play in Rockville Centre, N.Y. at No. 13 Molloy College at 3 p.m.
