IRVING, Texas (Apr. 27, 2016) - LIU Post football seniors
Sean Binckes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Mike Sollenne (Massapequa, N.Y.) have been picked to the 2016 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced Wednesday.
Binckes hauled in 48 passes in 2015 for 428 yards and four touchdowns. He paced all Northeast-10 Conference tight ends in receptions and broke the Pioneers' all-time reception record in the process.
Binckes, who was named to the All-NE-10 First Team and D2CCA All-Super Region One Second Team, boasts a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average in Health Sciences.
Meanwhile, Sollenne, a 3.6 GPA student in Physical Education, started all 11 games at left tackle for the green and gold. He protected the pocket and opened holes for an offense that led the NE-10 in passing and ranked third in rushing.
Sollenne's efforts in the trenches earned him All-NE-10 first-team recognition and a nod as a Dream Bowl All-Star.
To be eligible for membership into the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant contributor in their last year of eligibility, achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and meet all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
