BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Sept. 10, 2016) - The No. 8 LIU Post men's soccer team blanked Dominican College, 7-0, in its final contest of the UB Men's Soccer Classic, hosted by University of Bridgeport at Knights Field on Saturday.
Six different Pioneers (4-0) found the back of the net, while Dominican (1-3) managed just four shots in 90 minutes.
Sophomore midfielder
Charlie Ledula (London, England) got the scoring started in the ninth minute, off an assist by graduate midfielder
Alex Billington (Preston, England).
Red-shirt junior midfielder
Erik Berthagen (Gothenburg, Sweden) notched his first goal of the season in the 30th minute, before junior back
Johan Mauritzson (Halmstad, Sweden) scored his first goal as a Pioneer.
Senior keeper
Jesper Malmstrom (Linkopping, Sweden) made one save in the first 45 minutes and has now posted back-to-back clean sheets.
In the second half, junior midfielder
Harry Pearse (London, England) netted a pair of goals in a 10-minute span.
Junior back
Ian Jonsson (Stockholm, Sweden) recorded his first goal in the 82nd minute. Then, freshman midfielder
Ludvig Jeppsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) tallied his first collegiate goal in the 85th minute off a corner kick.
Head Coach
Andreas Lindberg and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 14), when they play at home for the first time this season. LIU Post will host Post University in a non-conference tilt. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
