Women's Indoor Track Comes In Fourth at ECC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 24, 2017)
- On Friday, the LIU Post women's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the 2017 East Coast Conference Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.

Junior Talya Williams (Schenectady, N.Y.) won the league title in the mile run, clocking a 5:02.81. She was third in the 3,000-meter race (10:25.90), as well.

Graduate Elizabeth Stirling (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded a second-place time of 18:26.43 in the 5,000-meter run, and followed Williams in fourth in the 3,000-meter run at 10:41.24.

Three other Pioneers came in fourth in their respective events. Freshman Alexandria Okon (Laurel, Md.) sprinted to a 1:20.07 in the 500-meter dash. Fellow freshman Nicolette Agostinacchio (Wantagh, N.Y.) crossed at 2:21.83 in the 800-meter run. Graduate Ashlin Conroy (Syosset, N.Y.) posted individual times of 3:07.57 and 18:55.31 in the 1,000- and 5,000-meter run.

Freshman Nicole Costanzo (Nesconset, N.Y.) eclipsed a second-place height of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) in the high jump. Additionally, she finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 10.18 meters (33 feet, 4.75 inches).

Meanwhile, freshman Kaitlyn Klein (Richmondville, N.Y.) placed second in the shot put with a heave of 11.78 meters (38 feet, 7.75 inches). She also came in fifth in the weight throw with a heave of 12.43 meters (40 feet, 9 inches).

Head Coach Kevin Buckley and the Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 4, when they wrap up the 2016-17 indoor season in Boston, Mass. at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at 9 a.m.
