BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 8, 2017) - The No. 4/8 LIU Post women's lacrosse team had eight different goal-scorers Wednesday in a 13-7 victory over Philadelphia University in non-conference action at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Pioneers (2-1) came out of the gate strong, and built a commanding 7-0 lead at the midway point of the first half. Senior attackers Connor Bird (Syosset, N.Y.) and Stefani Vagelatos (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) each tallied a pair of goals in the run. Sophomore midfielder Ryan McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) and freshman midfielder Jill LoManto (Miller Place, N.Y.) added a goal apiece.

The green and gold, which outshot Philadelphia (1-1) by an overwhelming 20-7 count in the first 30 minutes, eventually took an 8-3 advantage into the break.

Early in the second half, McKinney and freshman midfielder Alyssa Mallery (Wantagh, N.Y.) scored just 1:09 apart for LIU Post to increase the hosts' lead to 10-3 at the 25:45 mark.

Though the Rams subsequently managed to close the gap to a four-goal game (10-6) with 12:33 left, the Pioneers limited their opposition to just one goal in the final six minutes to seal the win.

Vagelatos led all players in the contest with four points (2 G, 2 A). Bird (3 G), McKinney (2 G, 1 A) and LoManto (1 G, 2 A) had three points apiece. Red-shirt senior attacker Alexis Newman (Medford Lakes, N.J.) chipped in a three-point day (1 G, 2 A), as well. Mallery registered two points (1 G, 1 A) and won four draw controls.

Between the pipes, junior goaltender Olivia Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished with eight saves for LIU Post. Freshman cageminder Victoria Raimondi (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) stopped 11 shots for Philadelphia.

For the game, the Pioneers owned a 37-19 edge in shots and a 14-8 differential in ground balls, while doubling up the Rams in draws (15-7). They were also 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) on clearing attempts.

Head Coach Meghan McNamara and her LIU Post squad are back at it on Saturday (Mar. 11), when they open a six-game road trip in Easton, Mass. at No. 19 Stonehill College. The opening draw is slated for noon.
