Kelsey Walker is entering her third year as an assistant coach for the Pioneers. Mainly in charge of coaching the outfield, Walker also works alongside Apicella with the team’s offense.

In 2008, Walker and Apicella were named the 2008 NFCA Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the second year in a row the pair has received this recognition.

In her first season alongside Apicella, Walker made an immediate impact on the outfield that consisted of three freshmen starters for most of the year. Under her tutelage, the outfielding corps made just eight errors all season.

In addition to outfi eld, Walker is also in charge of situational offense and baserunning for the team. In 2007, under Walker’s guidance, Kelsey Cooley finished 14th in the nation in sacrifice bunts per game with 20, and the team was 44-51 in steal attempts. 

She oversees the team’s conditioning and
nutrition programs, and is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Walker is also the Assistant Director of the New York Softball Academy, and works as an instructor in the New York Sports Academy camp.

The West Hills, Calif., native was a four-year starter for the Pioneers and served as a captain during her senior season. A 2006 graduate of C.W. Post, Walker holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She currently resides in Westbury, N.Y.
