Kareem Brown enters his third season as a Pioneer assistant coach/basketball operations director, following a successful first two seasons where the Pioneers won two ECC Championship and twice advanced the NCAA tournament.
In addition to his coaching duties, Brown's responsibilities at LIU Post include recruiting, player development, game film breakdown, academic progress of student-athletes, and supervision of student managers.
Brown came to LIU Post after spending two years at St. John’s as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic Department. His duties included creating handbooks for student-athletes, assisting the Athletic Director, and conducting excel spreadsheet for the NCAA Division I Soccer committee.
While at St. John's Brown also competed as a student athlete on the football field in 2002 where he started as a freshman. The program was discontinued the following year.
Brown earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. John University. His Bachelor of Science came in Marketing from the school in January 2007, while the master’s degree was in Sport Management, received September 2009.
Coaching experience includes a one year stint at Morris Catholic High School as the varsity assistant for boys basketball during the 2009-10 school year. Brown has also coached the Hoop Haven AAU program for the past year. He also has a number of camp and tournament experience including Five-Star Basketball, Hoop Group, Basketball City, Connecticut Basketball School, St. John's University and Rumble In The Bronx.
