 Kristie Leggio enters her first year on the Pioneer coaching staff, bringing valuable playing and coaching experience to the team.  She will work alongside McNamara with both defense and offense.

Leggio’s most recent coaching stint was at Bay Shore High School, where she served as an assistant girl’s lacrosse coach for two years.  During her tenure at Bay Shore, she helped guide the team to a 2010 Suffolk County Championship.  She also served as an assistant at Bay Shore from 2004-05, helping the Marauders to a Suffolk County and Long Island Championship along with an NY State semifinals appearance in 2005.

The standout lacrosse player competed for two seasons at Maryland, where she helped the team to an ACC Championship as well as a final four appearance in 2003.  She then played the remainder of her career at the University of Denver from 2006-07.  Leggio capped her career by twice being named the MPSF Player of the Year and the University of Denver Female Athlete of the Year, along with two-time All-Region accolades, 2007 All-America honors and a Tewaarton Trophy watch list mention.  She broke the Denver single-season record for assists (44), points (111) and goals (67).  In addition, she was ranked third in the NCAA in goals per game during her senior season, and she is currently 17th in NCAA history in point per season.

The Bay Shore, N.Y. native received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Denver in 2008.
