Football
Thomas Cassese was a record-setting wide receiver for the football team, and played professionally during his first five years after graduation.
He saw stints with the NFL’s Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints, while also toiling with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes and British Columbia Lions.
Cassese has become the winningest high school football coach in Suffolk County history over the last 33 seasons at Comsewogue High School, having won 16 coach of the year awards in compiling a 206-85-3 record.
He is the first coach in county history to reach the 200-wins plateau, and has led Comsewogue to six county titles and two Long Island championships.
A 1967 graduate of C.W. Post with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Cassese lives in Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., with his wife of 35 years, Barbara. The couple has two grown children - Dr. Todd (28) and Kevin (24).
