Donald Ungarelli was one of the original athletes in C.W. Post history – a letter winner in football, wrestling, soccer, baseball and track for the Pioneers.
He coached the men’s soccer program after graduation, and became the first coach in school history to lead a team to the NCAA Championships in 1962.
Ungarelli, who today serves as Dean of the University Libraries at Long Island University, earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1960 from C.W. Post. He later received master’s degrees in education, and library and information sciences, before earning a doctorate in library management from Simmons College.
A former editor for the journal, Library and Archival Security, Ungarelli resides in East Norwich, N.Y. He has two daughters, RoseMarie (42) and BelAnne (38), and four grandchildren.
