Babic Tabbed ECC Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2008) – The East Coast Conference released its weekly women's soccer report Monday, and has named sophomore striker Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) Player of the Week.
Babic scored three goals in the Pioneers two contests last week, ensuring two more wins for C.W. Post. She started off her week tallying a goal for the Pioneers in a 4-0 win over C.W. Post. Saturday afternoon Babic scored two goals in a 2-0 win over ECC and cross-town rival Dowling College. Babic struck first in the 27th minute of the first half, putting her team on the board. Dowling rallied back, tying the game 1-1. With five minutes left in regulation, Ivana found the back of the net, notching the win for the Pioneers. Babic now has 11 goals and four assists for the season, totaling 26 points.
C.W. Post, the fourth-ranked team in the nation, has an overall record of 11-1-0, and an ECC record of 4-0. The Pioneers take on St. Thomas Aquinas College on Tuesday, Oct. 14, in a 4 p.m. match-up.
