C.W. Post Announces Athletic Hall Of Fame Class Of 2009
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The C.W. Post Department of Athletics along with Director of Fundraising Vin Salamone announced the candidates for the 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Dinner.
The inductees include running back Ian Smart '03, who is the all-time leading rusher at C.W. Post with 6,647 yards and 95 touchdowns. Upon graduation, Smart was signed by the New York Jets and currently plays in the CFL for the British Columbia Lions.
Other inductees include: David Kelly '00, four-time All-American men's lacrosse defender and three-time Player of the Year; Lucien Veneziano '66, an offensive lineman who signed with the New York Giants; Kelly (Geiger) Bardak '97, a softball player that owns the records for career hits and runs scored along with a 22-game consecutive hitting streak from the 1995 season; Stephen Fontana '82, a four-time All-American wrestler; Kathy Weber '88, a basketball standout and CEO of HoopsQuest ,who owns the all-time assists record and is third in scoring with 1,296 points.
The formal induction ceremony will take place Thursday, Mar. 26, 2009, at the Milleridge Cottage in Jericho, N.Y.
