Women's Cross Country Places 12th NCAA At East Regional; Wissler Earns All-East Regional Honors

BOSTON (Nov. 9, 2008) – The C.W. Post women's cross country team placed 12th in a field of 23 teams Sunday afternoon at the men's and women's NCAA Division II East Regional. Freshman
Nicole Wissler (Mineola, N.Y.) was named to the All-East Region team.
Host school University of Massachusetts Lowell was the overall winner for both the men and women. UML's Christina Dalomba won the course outright and was named the East Region Athlete of the Year, crossing the line at 22:10.0. UML's Ruben Sanca crossed first for the men and was named the top runner.
Wissler crossed the line with a final time of 23 minutes, 37.2 seconds and was 10th overall in a field of 166 runners on the 6k course. Junior
Kristen Sweeney (Kennebunk, Maine) was second for the Pioneers, checking in at 25:26.5. Junior
Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) was third for C.W. Post at 26:18.8. Freshman
Melissa Norman (West Haven, Conn.) followed seconds later at 26:24.9. Junior
Kristin Coscia (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) completed the course with a final time of 27:22.9.
On the men's side, junior
Thomas Brouillard (Syosset, N.Y.) was first, finishing 85th out of 167 runners at 35:26 in the 8k course. Senior
Anthony Walcott (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) was second for the Pioneers at 37:05 while freshman
Theodore Cruz (Albertson, N.Y.) followed at 37:55.
