Svensson Honored As NSCAA All-America Second Team Selection
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 9, 2008)- The National Soccer Coaches Association released its All-America picks Tuesday morning. C.W. Post Sophomore defender Anna Svensson (Stockholm, Sweden) was the only member of the East Coast Conference to receive All-America nods, as she was placed on the second team roster. The honors come after C.W. Post finished its season posting a 17-3-1, losing to the University of Bridgeport in the 80th minute of the second round of the NCAA Northeast Regional.
Prior to the beginning of the season, Svensson was named ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. She also garnered First Team All-Conference accolades from the ECC as well as Daktronics, Inc. All-Northeast Region Second Team honors after the close of regular season play. Svensson proved to be an anchor on the Pioneer defense, helping to maintain a .51 goals against average. With the help of Svensson and the rest of the Pioneers defense, C.W. Post was ranked 12th in the nation in goals against average and 11th in shutout percentage. She finished out the season notching one assist, making the starting lineup for all 21 of the Pioneers matches.
