Women's Soccer Downs Caldwell 4-0, Keeping Undefeated Streak Alive
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2008)- The C.W. Post women's soccer team continued their undefeated streak Wednesday afternoon, shutting out Caldwell College 4-0. Three different players scored for the Pioneers, improving their record to 4-0-0.
Senior
Maria Sonnerborg (Bjarred, Sweden) put the Pioneers on the board 11:31 into the first half. She scored her third goal of the season off a cross from teammate
Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden). The two reconnected fifteen minutes later, as Sonnerborg returned the favor and fed the ball inside, as Babic found the top left corner of the net. Babic recorded another goal 22 minutes into the second half, as she headed the ball of a corner from junior
Caitlin Mullady (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Babic finished the afternoon with four shots, two goals, and two assists, recording her second two goal game for the season.
The Pioneers proved they were not yet finished, as freshman
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) scored off a corner 75:16 into the second half. That was Eriksson's first goal in a Pioneer Uniform.
Freshman Goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) was awarded the win, as she spent the afternoon uncontested in the net. Caldwell keeper Lauren Hoenig made one save for the Cougars.
C.W. Post outshot Caldwell 9-3 for the afternoon, and held a 8-1 edge over the Cougars in corners.
The Pioneers will be back in action September 13 as the travel to Garden City to face the Adelphi Panthers at 7 p.m.
