Sweeney Leads Cross Country Women to Fifth Place Finish

LOCKHAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2008)- The C.W. Post cross country team had eight runners place at the Lock Haven University Cross Country Invitational meet Saturday afternoon.
Junior Thomas Brouillard (Syosset, N.Y.) was the first member to finish for C.W. Post on the men's side in the 8K race. He placed 40th overall with a time of 28 minutes and 58.54 seconds. This is the second meet in which Brouillard has led the men's team. Senior Anthony Walcott (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) crossed the line just over a minute after his teammate, notching a 52nd place finish with a time of 30:04.67. Timothy Arscott (Ridgewood, N.J.) was the third Pioneer to finish on the men's side, ranking 73rd in the pack.
The women's cross country team earned themselves a fifth place finish overall in the 6K race. Junior Kristen Sweeney (Kennebunkport, Maine) led her team, crossing the finish line first for the Pioneer women, and garnering a 21st place finish overall with a time of 24:58.53. Shortly behind her was freshman Maria Costello (Patchogue, N.Y.), clocking in at 25 minutes and 44.61 seconds, placing 29th overall for the women.
Junior Erin Lusenskas came in third for the Pioneers, crossing the line at 27:24.80, earning herself a 45th place slot. Not far behind were juniors Kristin Coscia (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Irekpitan Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.), placing 53rd and 59th place, respectively.
Head Coach Rob Morris' Pioneers will be back in action Saturday, September 20 as they travel to Van Cortlandt Park for the Iona Meet of Champions. The race is scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m.
